Most dental patients want to achieve a brighter smile. In fact, a whiter smile is the number one cosmetic request of dental patients in the United States. There are many factors that dull and yellow the smile over time. Habitual use of teeth staining products like coffee, tobacco, and caramel colored beverages impacts the whiteness of the smile. However, even those of us who avoid these products and observe otherwise good oral health practices see the brightness of our smiles fade over time. Teeth can naturally darken over time.
The desire for whiter teeth is so prevalent that the market is flooded with products that promise a whiter smile. From toothpastes to over the counter whitening strips to homeopathic recommendations, it’s difficult to discern what whitening method is the best.
At Cormier Family Dentistry we believe that teeth whitening should be the most effective and safest whitening method available. We are proud to offer the GLO Sciences Pro Whitening System to our patients as a highly effective solution to getting a brighter smile.
What is GLO?
GLO is an in office whitening system that is clinically proven to whiten tooth enamel and dentin. Performed under the supervision of a dentist, the Patented GLO system mouthpiece combines LED light and heat resistors in a closed system, which prevents oxygen from escaping the teeth. With each application the mouthpiece warms to the optimal temperature to accelerate and activate the process for quicker, more efficient results. Get the optimal whitening results, without the sensitivity.
What is the GLO procedure like?
At your appointment we apply the uniquely formulated whitening gel to your teeth, ensuring that your teeth are fully coated. Then we place the GLO mouthpiece. The use of LED lights and heat resistors enhance the whitening properties of the gel allowing it to whiten your enamel and dentin in a swift but safe method.
During your appointment, the gel will typically be applied up to four times at intervals of 8 minutes to help you achieve your desired outcome. The entirety of the procedure lasts about one hour. However, we recommend that patients also schedule a check-up and teeth cleaning prior to the whitening procedure to boost results.
We will provide GLO Touch-Up Kits for you to take home after your whitening procedure. Using the GLO mouthpiece, you will be able to maintain your whitening results at home. No more impressions or those messy trays!
While the procedure is safe and effective for most patients, patients with tooth sensitivities should discuss the appropriateness of the GLO system with their dentist. Some patients may experience temporary mild discomfort during or after the procedure. Other patients with sensitive gag reflexes may have a difficult time sitting through the procedure.
